A man has been killed in Chapel Hill, the second shooting overnight

CHAPEL HILL, NC — Chapel Hill police are investigating a homicide.

On Monday around 10:30 p.m., officers with the Chapel Hill Police Department responded to the 300 block of S. Estes Drive where they found 27-year-old K’son Lamaricchio Thorpe of Oxford dead.

Thorpe died of gunshot wounds, police said. There was no information about the shooter and the motive.

The Chapel Hill Police Department said someone had been shot several hours earlier on North Carolina Highway 54 around 5 p.m. Police said one driver fired shots into the other driver’s vehicle, leaving the passenger with non-life-threatening injuries.

The pictures appear to be unrelated.
