PINEVILLE, NC – Pineville’s new shared library and town hall officially opened this weekend.
The institution held a grand opening on Saturday after the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.
The new building was created in partnership with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library.
It’s a big deal for Pineville. Since the mid-1980s, the town has not had a library.
“Pineville hasn’t had a library in many, many, many years,” says Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library Chief Marketing Officer Christel Green. “So we’re excited to be back at the heart of the community and offer all the collections and programs, materials and resources that people need. I think it is very important that libraries are in the community so that people have the opportunity to learn about anything they want.“
The new portion of the town hall building also marks the first permanent council chambers in Pineville.
