A man was arrested in Beech Grove, Indiana, after a video of the man’s toddler son reportedly waving and pulling the trigger of a gun was shown on live television. The video was shown on the Reelz series “On Patrol: Live” during the live broadcast of the TV show on Saturday, January 14, according to a press release. A police incident report obtained by CNN affiliate WTHR says Shane Osborne faces criminal negligence charges. The report also lists the “ring camera footage” that was obtained and uploaded to the police server. A 9mm handgun found at the scene had 15 rounds in the magazine but no rounds in the chamber. Osborne is expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon, WTHR reports. Shaw recognized Osborne as the boy’s father. Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley released a statement to WTHR saying he was “devastated” by the incident. “Like all of you, I am devastated by what happened and I am very grateful that no one was hurt, especially a small child. I appreciate the quick action taken by the Beech Grove Police Department to keep the young child and the gun in question safe.” A neighbor’s surveillance video that aired on “On Patrol: Live” shows the little boy under the driver of an apartment complex who swings a gun back and forth and pulls the trigger. According to a release from the show, Beech Grove police officers responded after a neighbor called 911 “stating that she and her son had witnessed a child alone in the hallway outside his unit, and that he was holding a gun and pointing it at them.” When officers arrived, the child’s alleged father said he didn’t have a gun. “I don’t have a gun,” the man said when police entered his apartment, “I never brought a gun into this house, if my cousin has one.” Police searched the apartment for weapons. and eventually found a firearm under the TV in the living room. It’s unclear if it’s the same gun seen n and a neighbor’s security video, but one of the officers at the scene says it’s a “Smith & Wesson SD9mm.” Later, the police took away the man in handcuffs and left the apartment complex. The officer said after speaking with the prosecutors on duty that it was enough to make an arrest “for child neglect, which is a felony,” because there was a loaded firearm in the apartment.
