Flames burn the roof of Raleigh's house

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – One person was killed and another injured Monday night in a house fire in Wake County.

The fire broke out late last night at a home in the 5300 block of Castlebrook Drive, near the east Raleigh city limits.

Firefighters from several Wake County departments responded and were able to extricate two people from the home.

The man did not survive. The woman was taken to WakeMed, according to Wake New Hope Fire Chief.

A dog was also rescued.

The roof of the house was pierced by flames. Firefighters were on the roof of the house and extinguished the fire.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause.
