RALEIGH, NC (WNCT) – With gas prices on the rise and all the seemingly stressful driving going on right now, it’s nice to hear some good news about our home state.

In a study released by WalletHub looking at the best and worst states for driving in 2023, North Carolina is doing pretty well. It ranks fifth overall.

When driving in North Carolina, from #1 best to #25 average, we rank 23rd in rush hour traffic, 20th in auto theft, 8th in auto repair shops per capita population, 17th in average gasoline prices, 8th in car maintenance costs, 18th in road quality, and 10th in car dealerships per capita.
