Meteorologist Brian Slocum predicts a rainy Sunday

THINK IT’S A GOOD SUNDAY FOR SPORTS. THANK YOU SO MUCH JOHN. I’M SURELY PLANNING TO BE INSIDE MOST OF IT WATCHING FOOTBALL TONIGHT. BRIAN, THIS IS THE REGAL SEASON FINALE. YES, WE ARE ALREADY HERE. I KNOW THE PANTHERS ARE ON THE ROAD, SO YEAH, OF COURSE THAT’S THE TIME I WOULD MAKE A SPORTS PREDICTION. EVERYTHING IN THE ROOM. YES. SOMETHING TO YOU AND IT’S CLEAR WHAT TO YOU. YES. IT’S JUST NOT THE FORECAST TODAY. IT’S NOT IN. WE’RE GOING TO LOOK AT THE COLD RAIN FOR THOSE PEOPLE HEADED WHERE YOUR FOOTBALL WILL NOT BE. WET ROADS FORECAST, SORRY BEFORE THIS DAY STARTS TODAY. IT’S ALREADY BEGINNING. STARTING THIS SLIDE WAS A CHEW. AND FOR OUR NORTHERN COUNTRIES, THE WINTER MIX IS BEGINNING. NOW, USUALLY, IF THE TEMPERATURE IS COLD ENOUGH, THE ATMOSPHERE IS EQUAL TEMPERATURE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. SO YOU START BRINGING THROUGH THIS EXCLUSION. YOU ARE STARTING TO COOL A LITTLE BUT IT USUALLY STARTS OUT AS MIXED CONDITIONS, ESPECIALLY WHERE THE TEMPERATURE HANGES CLOSE TO FREEZING, BEFORE IT BECOME A SINGLE OR GETTING OVERNIGHT. SO, A LITTLE SNOW, A LITTLE SLEEPY IN THE HIGH COUNTRY, SORRY. I DON’T KNOW WHAT MY VOICE IS DOING TODAY. THERE IS A ROLLING MOUNTAIN TO THE WEST, A LITTLE RAIN IS FALLING, BUT YOU CAN SEE WHERE SOME OF THE ELEVATED SURFACES ARE PLUGGING UP. IT’S EASY, HOWEVER, AND NOT EXPECTED TO BE RESPONSIVE AT ALL. SO THAT’S THE THING, IT’S GOING TO GRADUALLY GO FROM WARM TO RAIN OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS. BUT MY ADVICE TODAY: WHILE I DON’T EXPECT ANY ROADS TO BECOME TRAVELABLE OR AT LEAST WIDE, I WOULD TAKE CARE OF YOUR STEPS TODAY BECAUSE THESE STEPS IN THE SOUTH ARE USUALLY THE FIRST TO GET SLIPPERY UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. SOMETIMES, IT’S NOT SO MUCH GOING WHERE YOU NEED YOUR CAR TO GO. IT’S LIKE GETTING YOUR CAR TO WHERE YOU NEED TO BE, IT CAN BE A LITTLE SLIPPERY TODAY. YOU COULD HAVE SEEN THAT THE AREA OF LARGE STORAGE IS SPREAD ACROSS THE STATES. WE’VE GOT PRETTY GOOD LIONS AND CHICKS NEARLY ALONG THIS LINE. THE SURAL HILLS WILL BE LIMITED TODAY IN THESE REGIONS, EXCEPT FOR SOME CHANCE OF INDEPENDENT FLOODING, AT LEAST A FEW WINDS. OUR NEXT STORM SYSTEM LATER IN THE WEEK WILL COME FROM AT LEAST THIS GENERAL AREA. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE A COUPLE OF WAVES THIS WEEK AS ONE OF THE PARENTS IS HERE AND THE OTHER IS SUPPORTING IT. THIS DEVELOPMENT IS NORMALLY AN ACTIVE PERIOD WHICH WE EXPERIENCE AT THIS TIME OF YEAR IN THE PACIFIC. AND YOU GET THESE SYSTEMS ALL OVER THE NATION, INCLUDING THE ONE WE’RE SEEING TODAY, WHICH WAS ONE OF THE ONES THAT IRRIGATED WEST COAST PARK DAYS AGO. OUR TEMPERATURES ARE, AGAIN, AS YOU CAN SEE, ABOVE THE PAST. WE HAVE SOFT CLOUDS. IT’S GRAY, IT’S COOL. SOMEONE IS CHEAP OUTSIDE. BUT EVEN IN THE FOOTHOLLS WHICH ARE WINTER ADVISORY, WE HAVE TEMPERATURES IN THE MID-THIRTY FOCUS. IN DENVER, MARTINSVILLE, PLACES LIKE GALAX, WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE CLOSE TO FREEZING, ONLY COLDER. AND THESE AREAS HAVE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES. I THINK FOR THE FOOTBALLS, IF YOU LIVE IN WILKES, IF YOU LIVE IN SARRY COUNTY, EVEN PATRICK COUNTY, VIRGINIA, YOU’LL HAVE MORE OF A SHORT PERIOD OF WINTER AND THEN IT STARTS TO WARM UP QUICKLY UNTIL WE GET RAINY WHAT ARE OUR TEMPERATURES NOW. FURTHER IMPACTS ARE REGIONS OF WINTER ATMOSPHERE. BUT AS FAR EFFECTS GO, WE ARE NOT EXPECTING ANY THIS TIME. So KEEP OUR BALLS. SO THE CALL IS REALLY A TIME OUT. CHANCE OF RAIN. SO I THINK WE’RE GOING TO BE SLOW BUT STEADY 30 TO AROUND 40 FOR MOST OF THE DAY. I THINK WE’RE GOING TO BREAK THE SHOWER DOWN IN THE DAY, BUT START GETTING THEM BACK TONIGHT. AT THIS TIME, A TIMEFRAME OF WEATHER INFLUENCES WITH GREATER THAN 50% CHANCES OF RAIN WILL RETURN. WE WILL SEE TEMPERATURES INTO THE UPPER THIRTYS IN THE FOOTHOLLS. WE START THERE A LITTLE SOFTER THAN IN PIEDMONT. TRY IT. SO IT’S A GOOD SIGN IT’S GOING TO BE MOSTLY RAIN. EVEN THE MOUNTAINS WILL START OUT AS A WINTERY MIX, BUT TEMPERATURES SHOULD BECOME WARM ENOUGH FOR RAIN. THE DOMINANT TYPE OF DICROTIC MOUNTAIN WE SEE TODAY. LOOKING AT THE HOUR-BY-HOUR, YOU CAN SEE PERIODS OF CLOSE WEATHER SLIGHTLY DECREASING THROUGHOUT THE DAY WHICH WILL RETURN THIS EVENING. YOU CAN SEE THAT THE WINTER MIX IS PRACTICALLY GONE AT THIS POINT. AND THEN THE SHOWER ENDS TOTALLY AS WE HEAD INTO THE LATER EVENING. SEVEN, EIGHT FORECAST. WE’RE GOING BACK TO THE FIFties WITH TOMORROW’S SUN. MID FIFties FOR A GOOD LONG DAY BEFORE THE RAIN. CHANCES WILL COME BACK LATER T
