DAVIDSON, NC — Part of a family resource center in Davidson is getting a much-needed makeover thanks to the help of NBA star Steph Curry.

The Ada Jenkins Center unveiled its newly renovated gymnasium on Saturday. The large demonstration portion included basketball drills, free throw contests, music, food and face painting.

The renovation was partially funded by Curry’s Eat. to learn to play Fund.

While at Davidson College, Curry was a volunteer with the center fielder’s kids.

Organizers say the repairs were badly needed.

“This whole building is over 100 years old, but it just needed some attention, if you will, some love,” said Harold Rice Jr., CEO of the Ada Jenkins Center. “There are many ways to use this gym for the community, not just for basketball, but to be of service to the community.”

The Ada Jenkins Center is a non-profit organization that helps poor people gain education and equal opportunities.
