DES MOINES, IOWA – Players, check the tickets. The numbers have been drawn for the latest Mega Millions jackpot, now valued at $1.1 billion.
The numbers drawn late Tuesday night were: 7, 13, 14, 15, 18 and the gold Mega Ball 9.
The top prize is now the third largest in US history after 24 consecutive draws without a winner, allowing the prize to be surpassed multiple times.
Mega Millions usually takes several hours before announcing whether there has been a top prize winner.
The game’s long odds of 1 to 302.6 million are designed to create huge jackpots that attract more players.
The $1.1 billion jackpot will be paid out through an annuity over 29 years. Players who prefer the money up front can opt for a cash payout that currently stands at roughly $568.7 million, though more than a third of that usually goes to federal and possibly state taxes.
The only Mega Millions jackpots larger than Tuesday’s estimated $1.1 billion were the $1.53 billion won in South Carolina in 2018 and the $1.33 billion winning ticket in Illinois in July, according to Mega Millions.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states as well as Washington, DC and the US Virgin Islands.
