William Harley and brothers Arthur Davidson and Walter Davidson released their first version of the motorcycle in the summer of 1903. He didn’t have the strength to climb the humble hills around Milwaukee, but that was the beginning. Enough to begin with, the men set up Harley-Davidson and built more of their petrol bikes – with the intention of letting these car companies run for money.
