The U.S. Coast Guard is looking for a man who jumped overboard from a cruise ship early Saturday as he approached Florida. The man jumped from the ship Carnival Cruise Lines Mardi Gras just after midnight about 55 miles east of the port of Canaveral, according to the Coast Guard and Carnival. The Coast Guard responded with two boats and a plane in search of the 43-year-old man. Mardi Gras and the cruise liner Elation were also involved in the search, said Coast Guard spokesman David Michallef. “The Carnival Care team supports the guest’s family. Mardi Gras, ”said Carnival spokesman Matt Lupali. “Our thoughts and prayers with the guest and his family.” Lupali said the Coast Guard released the ship from search operations and it continued to Port Canaveral.
