One Winston-Salem man is making sure no one goes without a home-cooked meal for Thanksgiving or any holiday of the year by handing out food outside the Bethesda Homeless Center. Winston-Salem resident Arthur Green has been handing out food during the holiday for 10 years. Green said that 10 years ago, he was driving around with extra food in his car and wondering what to do with it. That’s when he thought of giving it to the homeless in the community. “I settled in, and after a while, all these people from different walks of life came in, and I felt like it was my calling to feed downtown Bethesda,” Green said. Every holiday throughout the year, with the help of volunteers, he organizes outside the center and distributes food. “It makes me smile knowing that when I go to bed at night, I know they’re not going to be hungry that night,” Green said. Greene’s message this Thanksgiving is: “I just want everyone to have a great Thanksgiving and remember the homeless, our brothers and sisters. They have nowhere to go in the winter when it’s cold, when we’re home in our warm homes, remember them.” Green said this Christmas may be the last time they do that because the Bethesda center is working to open a cafeteria to people could come and get food.If you want to help Green and his group this holiday season, you can contact him by email. His email address is vaughnarthur8@gmail.com.

“It makes me smile knowing that when I go to bed at night, I know they’re not going hungry that night,” Green said.

Green’s message this Thanksgiving is: “I just want everyone to have a wonderful Thanksgiving and remember the homeless, our brothers and sisters. They have nowhere to go in the winter, when it’s cold, when we are at home in our warm houses, remember them.”

Green said this Christmas may be the last time they do that because the Bethesda center is working on opening a cafeteria where people can come and get food.
