When 55-year-old Lori Haffins ripped off her $ 5 lottery ticket, she said she should check again and make sure she did not see things.

Huffins, an office manager from Greensboro, cleaned her glasses, she told officials, and the lucky win was confirmed. She won $ 200,000.

“I started scratching, and when I saw it, I thought,‘ My God, my God, ’” Haffins told NC Education lottery representatives. “I was shocked.”

According to officials, Haffins took the Bonus Bucks ticket from Shitz to Spring Garden Street. She won one of six top prizes in the game.

After withholding state and federal taxes, Haffins took home $ 142,021 on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

“Things always happen when you least expect it,” she told the lottery. “I wanted to buy a house, so it will help do that.”
