JACKSONVILLE, NC (WWAY) – Christina Montgomery of Jacksonville said she was still waiting for reality to come down after a $ 20 ticket brought her a $ 100,000 prize.

“I still think it’s a dream,” Montgomery said.

Montgomery, a 27-year-old cashier, bought her lucky Premier Cash ticket to Food Lion on Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville, where she works. She said she saw only two zeros at first, but kept scratching and saw three more zeros.

“I was shocked,” Montgomery said. “Reality still amazes me now.”

Montgomery bought the winning ticket in a lottery machine at the store when she was on a break from work. She said a strong feeling prompted her to buy a Premier Cash ticket.

“Something just told me to play it,” Montgomery said. “Things happen for a reason.”

Montgomery arrived Friday to pick up his prize, and after necessary state and federal taxes withdrew home $ 71,016. She said she is using the money to buy a new car and possibly save money to start a family.

The Premier Cash game debuted in August with four top prizes of $ 2 million and eight prizes of $ 100,000. Two prizes of $ 2 million and two prizes of $ 100,000 remain in demand.

Selling tickets in games at zero games allows the lottery to raise more than $ 900 million a year for education. For details on how the $ 12.1 million raised in the lottery has affected the changes in Onslow County in 2021, visit www.nclottery.com and click on the “Impact” section.
