The beagles, rescued from a breeding facility in Virginia, played outside for the first time on Monday. The 30 dogs arrived in Pennsylvania last week from the Envigo facility as part of a transfer plan following a lawsuit filed against the company by the Department of Justice alleging animal welfare violations. Approximately 4,000 dogs were removed from the facility in Virginia and taken to shelters or rescue organizations in several states. These dogs are not your typical dogs. They were bred for research and never touched grass or drank water from a bowl. The adult dogs will be spayed or neutered this week and will soon be ready for their new homes. If you are looking to adopt a rescued beagle, go to the Humane Society of the United States website to find a facility that has adopted some of them. Watch the video above to see the full story.
