CARY, NC (WTVD) – The Cary Police Department confirms that the fire investigation is now also a shooting investigation.

An investigation began after Cary firefighters responded to the fire and found a man who had been shot.

The Cary Fire Department was dispatched to a dumpster fire around 7:15 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Dorset Drive, police said.

At the scene, firefighters found one person with a gunshot wound.

An ambulance took the man to the hospital. There is no other information about their condition.

The shooting and fire are under investigation.

Police said the incident happened near the intersection of SW Maynard Rd and Chatham Street and people in the area will see police in action while they investigate.
