Advanced power monitoring should be done for power grids and inverter-driven electrical machines to characterize their long-term behavior. This is often quite difficult to do and can contain vast and difficult to understand data.
This document will show a real example of five-day monitoring of an electric motor that failed for unknown reasons. With the help of the eDrive power analyzer and the Perception software from HBK, it was possible to obtain flexible, accurate and powerful data from multiple channels and output to a single data file. This testing allowed engineers to identify the problem and analyze it further to easily and quickly determine the cause of the engine failure.
