Christian Eriksen returned to the football field on Saturday in the defeat of Brantford against Newcastle 257 days after cardiac arrest and said: “If you take the result.” I am a happy person. ”

The 30-year-old returned to action after a horrific experience during the game for Denmark at Euro 2020, coming out 52 minutes later at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The Bees were defeated 2-0, but this was still an important reason for the Dane, who felt that his career may have ended because of a heart problem.

The defeat was disappointing, but Eriksen was happy to return and thanked Brantford and their manager Thomas Frank for their help in his return to the Premier League.

“If you take the result, I am one happy person. To go through what I went through, to come back is a wonderful feeling, ”Eriksen told Sky Sports.

“Thomas didn’t say much.” [when I came on]. For the past few weeks I have been talking to him every day. He just said good luck and enjoy the game.

“You can never predict the game. I don’t think anyone predicted that we would cut to 10 so early. The guys did what they could. In the end it was a good fight.

“It was very special from day one. [Brentford] took good care of me. Everyone was very happy with it and everyone was really helpful.

“Everyone is here. My family, my parents, my children, my mother-in-law and some doctors who helped me back and forth. What they went through is even harder than I am.

“I think everyone knows that every game is very important. I think everyone is very focused on not sleeping. No one is naive, but everyone is focused on their work. Confidence is definitely there to stay on top. ”

Frank added: “It was a great moment. This is definitely something that will make me smile at the end. It was nice to see him there, and it was nice to see him show glimpses of what he is capable of. ”
