cincinnati – At least nine people were injured — none critically — in a shooting outside a Cincinnati bar early Sunday morning, police said.

Most of the victims suffered injuries to the lower half, Cincinnati police Lt. Col. Mike John told news outlets. A police officer shot the suspect, who fled the scene, but it was unclear if the man was actually shot. As of Sunday morning, the suspect was not in custody.

“It’s a little unusual when we don’t know for sure if the person that the officer shot was injured or not,” John said.

John said police used what he called two “shock balls” — a “percussive instrument” with a “very loud noise” — to disperse the crowd, which they said had gathered around officers who were trying to treat the injured.

The shooting took place shortly before 2 a.m. near the bar Mr. Another shooting in the nearby Central Business District soon left two people injured, but John said it was too early to say if there was a connection.
