We all know that in a text conversation the question is “did you understand my message?” actually translates as “why didn’t you respond to my message?” Some people don’t respect boundaries!

Even if you haven’t read the WhatsApp message as shown by the two ticks that remain gray, some people will find out you’ve been online thanks to the “Last Time” feature in the app.

Sure, you can disable this feature for all contacts, but that means you also can’t see other people’s. It is also convenient to check in with a family member who, for example, has been on a long trip. You can conclude that they are fine by their presence in the app, even if they didn’t have time to respond.

Fortunately, WhatsApp seems to be working to address this issue by allowing users to block certain contacts from viewing Last Seen information, which is a feature that has been the first rumors to include back in September.

WABetaInfo found a setting in the latest test versions of the app for iOS and Android, which adds the ability in the privacy settings to show the latest view in “My Contacts Except”. From there, you’ll be able to select individual contacts with whom you don’t want to share “Recent Parties” information.

It is unclear when this feature will appear, but it will be a handy option for those who want to give themselves a little space from these people – whatever they are – who insist on an instant response to text messages, if all you need is a little downtime from constant on-screen interaction.

WhatsApp is one of the most active companies on the scene when it comes to customizing existing features and adding new ones. Just last week the company announced this adding emoticon reactions as part of a wider reconstruction of the Communities.
