Divorced man crashes dump truck into wife’s house and parked cars in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES — A man going through a contentious divorce was caught on camera during the rampage, crashing a dump truck into his wife’s house and smashing into cars parked outside.

Patricia Dunn told our sister station in Los Angeles that the man in the video is her husband. They divorce and she says she fears for her life.

“A man in such a rage—who’s to say what he might do?” she said. “He tried to kill me. He really was.”

She said the part of the house he hit with his car was her bedroom.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon in the area of ​​107th Street and Normandy Avenue in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles.

Patricia says her husband drove by the house three times. He first drove a Chevy Impala and crashed into the house while she was inside. He returned in the dump truck and did more damage, then returned again in the Impala.

The metal fence of the house is bent to the ground and there are large dents on the outside of the house right near her bedroom.

“I just tried to stay out of the way,” she said. “So I don’t know if he was drunk or high. I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life.”

Neighbor Jorni Megherson caught the rampage on camera and her family tried to comfort Patricia.

“Honestly, it was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” Megherson said. – I don’t even believe it.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says it took about 30 minutes for law enforcement to arrive at the scene because the initial call came in as a traffic collision, not a crime.

Patricia says she is filing for a restraining order against her husband.

“Because we are going through a divorce. And he is upset that there are no contacts. He is verbally abusive and I have nothing to say.’

She says she fears for her life and is staying with someone else when her husband returns.
