CHARLOTTE, NC — Family and friends gathered in Huntersville for a balloon release for Shankella Robinson a day before her 26th birthday.
A crowd gathered at Beattis Ford Memorial Gardens on Sunday afternoon as they honored her life and prayed for justice.
The FBI and Mexican authorities have been investigating Robinson’s death for months. She was vacationing with friends near Cabo when she mysteriously died.
A video circulating on social media shows Robinson being attacked inside the villa. Authorities say she died of spinal injuries.
The event was organized by Mario Black with the Million Youth March in Charlotte and Salisbury. He says it’s important to keep the Shankwell name alive.
