WINDAR, North Carolina (WGHP) – An attempt to disguise smuggling by covering it with weed did not go as planned for smugglers in a North Carolina prison, according to North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

On Thursday morning, Bertie Corrections in Windsor saw 17 bundles wrapped in grass inside a fence.

When investigators opened the packs, they found 60 strips of Suboxone, 1 pound of 5 ounces of marijuana, 19 phones and chargers, 206 cigarettes, 38 cigars, 14 ounces of loose tobacco, paper, vape pen, lighters, wrench, hex. and two bags of sticky worms.

“Camouflage stood out,” the North Carolina Department of Public Security said in a Facebook post. «… #NotOnMyWatch».

No charges.
