Events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

There will be many events and volunteer opportunities Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The 43rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Triangle Prayer Breakfast will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in RTP at 7:15 am. Gerald Owens will emcee the event, which will be broadcast live on WRAL.com and the WRAL News app.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Triangle Holiday Kickoff and 43rd Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Gardens, 1215 Martin Luther King Blvd. Local leaders, clergy and the community are invited to support this groundbreaking ceremony and wreath-laying of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s statue to honor his life and as a symbol of solidarity in achieving more beloved community.

The 43rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial March departs at 11 a.m. from the State Capitol on the Edenton Street side in downtown Raleigh.

Hundreds of volunteers will gather together MLK food packaging event on the day of service. Duke students, faculty and staff, as well as Triangle Rotary Clubs, will be preparing pre– packaged meals. The event supports North Carolina food banks. It begins at 9 a.m. at the Duke School, 3716 Erwin Road.
