Miguel Cabreri’s search for his 3000th hit will continue for another day. The 39-year-old went 0-for-3 with a walk against New York Yankees on Thursday, pushing his pursuit of a milestone until the weekend. But this walk attracts a lot of attention, as the Yankees decided to give him a deliberately free pass at the bottom of the eighth inning. Needless to say, the Detroit Tigers home fans were unhappy.
The Yankees trailed 1-0 in eighth place, with participants finishing second and third, as well as two outings. Cabrera approached the plate, and before he could dig in, manager Aaron Boone gave the signal to hold it.

This walk loaded the base for Austin Meadows, who forced the Yankees to pay for their decision:

Here’s the thing: I understand it was one game and you have to do your best to win, but it looks like a bad look, and I understand why the Tigers fans were so upset. Fortunately for Cabrera & Co., Meadows forced the Yankees to pay for the decision.
Cabrera will be the 33rd player MLB story to get its 3000th hit soon, but it would be nice to see it before the weekend.
