Small mileage 2009 Honda S2000 CR owned by IndyCar driver Graham Rahal broke records and sold for a staggering $ 200,000 during the Bring a Trailer auction.

It’s no secret that second-hand prices S2000 CR models have risen sharply in recent years, but we never thought we would see a day when one would sell for $ 200,000. Obviously, people are finally realizing how big the S2000 is and how hard it is to buy an example with low mileage that hasn’t been broken. Last year Fr. black 985-mile S2000 CR sold for $ 112,111and a couple of months ago another CR with 5,500 miles (8,851 km) was sold at auction for $ 122,500.

The S2000 Rahal had a number of things that contributed to the impressive selling price. Primarily, it is a variant of CR (Club Racing), one of only 699 units sold in the United States. What’s more, since leaving the Honda plant the car has traveled just 123 miles (198 km), which also means it’s one of the lowest S2000 runs out there.

The S2000 was sold with a sticker on the windows, official records, a clean Carfax report and a certificate of origin. Obviously it has been in good condition since its first delivery and has absolutely no signs of wear. This includes Rio Yellow Pearl paint, which seems absolutely flawless, as well as standard 17-inch wheels that have no abrasions.

A similar story is in the cabin, where the racing seats are clad in black Alcantara with yellow inserts and yellow contrasting stitches and again have no obvious signs of wear or aging.

Different upgrades are different S2000 CR from conventional models. These include a stiffer suspension, more sticky tires, a faster steering rack, a removable stiff top, a rear wing and an extended front splitter. The CR weighs 90 pounds (41 kg) less than the standard S2000, but retains the familiar 2.2-liter four-cylinder 237 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque.
