FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza condemned the time-wasting tactic and even singled out his own player for criticism.
Goalkeeper Wallace Magalan appeared to take too long to find the back of the net in Platinum Miners’ 2-0 win over Harare City on Friday, something Mapeza expressed regret after the game.
He said: “I know football and I know the caliber of players we’re dealing with these days. You have to make them stay on their feet.”
“It won’t be anything special, just a reminder that now is the time to go forward, now is the time to defend, now is the time to shift, now is the time to press, nothing special.
“In the last few minutes Wallace took a few seconds to pass the ball and sometimes you get an unnecessary yellow card because of that.
“The moment you put the ball down and take a few steps back, you have to make a decision because if it gets stuck and the other technical team starts complaining, you’ll get a booking for that.
“That’s why I want, I don’t want it. I don’t want anyone to fall. If you’re not injured, don’t fall, keep going. If you feel you are injured then go, why waste time because we are 2-0 up and you want to lie down, for what? I don’t think it is necessary,” added Mapeza.
