RALLY, NC (WTVD) – A number of changes are expected in central North Carolina this week based on Governor Cooper’s recommendation on mask mandates.

The governor made Fr. ad at a news conference on Thursday, schools and local authorities were advised to end their masked mandates. He says state performance on COVID-19 continues to move in the right direction.

Cumberland County repealed the policy Sunday night at 5 p.m.

Orange County schools will discuss the issue at a board meeting scheduled for Monday, where they plan to make facials for children optional.

Wake County finish the mask requirement on Friday.

The state’s largest school district is bustling about to update its policies. The Wake County School The county announced Friday that it will soon ease requirements.

Protests took place almost every Tuesday outside of the Wake County Board of Education.

Some parents have sought change.

“You start messing with people’s families and their children, and their future and education, parents are going to fight back,” Wake’s father Steve Bergstrom said.

Bergstrom is happy that his children will finally be able to give up the mask.

“I see that they are happy. They are grateful that it will happen, and (there is) relief on their faces, in their voices. It’s great and we love it, but it’s a hope because we don’t want to go back to it again. “said Bergstrom.

The two counties of Triangle, Durham and Orange, are following the course and retaining the requirement for masks.
