CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash that killed one person and injured eight others on Sunday, May 29th.
Officers responded to the call at about 10pm at the intersection of Freedom Drive and Toddville Road on Sunday.
Police found two Nissan Maxima and a Cadillac Escalade at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, identified as 31-year-old Ricky Dinkins, died at the scene, and the passenger, 24-year-old Bruno Koba, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Cadillac driver, 41-year-old Michael Jordan II along with seven underage passengers aged three to 15 was taken to the main atrium with several injuries incompatible with life.

Dinkins was still driving at high speed when he drove to the intersection of Freedom Drive and Toddville Road, driving at a red light.
Jordan, a Cadillac driver, was trying to turn left when he was hit by Dinkins.
According to the new release of Tot, factors that contribute to accidents, excessive speed and reckless driving of Dinkins are considered. Police also believe Dinkins may have been injured while driving, and are awaiting toxicological reports.
Jordan was charged with the following:
