The winners will present their projects at ION GNSS + 2022 in Denver
The Satellite Division of the Navigation Institute in partnership with Google will hold its second annual Decimeter Challenge smartphoneand the winning teams will present their methods ION GNSS + 2022 meeting. ION GNSS + 2022 will take place September 19-23 at the Hyatt Regency Denver, near the Colorado Convention Centerx.
The Decimeter Challenge for smartphones is designed to advance research into the accuracy of smartphone GNSS positioning using the latest algorithms and technologies such as advanced machine learning models and accurate GNSS algorithms.
While standard receivers that use signals from GPS, other GNSS (Galileo, BeiDou, GLONASS) and regional systems (QZSS and IRNSS) provide an accuracy of 3 to 10 meters (often worse in urban conditions), the best location can be obtained , processing the reference phase. measurements, inertial unit data (IMU) and base station corrections.
Teams will use data sets collected using GPS receivers and IMU Android smartphones to calculate the location to the nearest decimeter. Mobile users will benefit from lane-level accuracy services, improved experience in location-based games and greater specificity in road safety issues.
The selection of the winner is based on the accuracy of the results from the test data sets compared to the very accurate basic truth. The top three winners will receive prizes worth $ 15,000 +, including a guaranteed performance at the highly competitive ION GNSS + 2022 conference (depending on the requirements of the technical document and the ION presentation); travel subsidy; and free registration for ION GNSS + 2022 in Denver.
Applications must be received by July 29.
