Professional wrestler Jay Briscoe has died at the age of 38. The US wrestling world is in shock following the death of a Ring of Honor (ROH) star whose real name was Jamin Pugh. Tony Hahn, CEO of All Elite Wrestling and owner from ROH, announced the news on Twitter. He wrote: “Unfortunately, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show to today.” Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as the champion for this day “We will do everything we can to support his family. ‘Rest in Peace Jamin.'” In a statement on the ROH website, they said: “It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the tragic passing of Jamin Pugh, known to wrestling fans around the world as Jay Briscoe . Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans.” Multiple wrestling websites are reporting that Pugh died Tuesday in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware. CNN affiliate WMDT reports that two people died in the crash, citing by Delaware State Police. Delaware State Police tweeted about the crash but did not name the individuals involved. A tweet posted Tuesday evening said, “Laurel Road at Little Hill Road will be closed for an extended period due to fatal accidents. DSP on scene.” CNN has reached out to the Delaware State Police for comment. The Laurel School District posted on Facebook Tuesday that it will be closed Wednesday following the incident. It said, “Due to the unimaginable tragedy that occurred in our community today evening, the Laurel School District will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Schools will reopen on Thursday. Please keep the Pugh family in your thoughts and prayers.” Pugh and his brother Mark, known as the Dem Boyz, were 12-time ROH World Tag Team Champions.

Multiple wrestling websites are reporting that Pugh died Tuesday in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware.

CNN affiliate WMDT reports that two people were killed in the crash, citing Delaware State Police.

Laurel School District posted on Facebook on Tuesday that it would be closed on Wednesday following the incident. It read: “Due to the unimaginable tragedy that occurred in our community tonight, the Laurel School District will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Schools will reopen on Thursday. Please remember the family I drink in my thoughts and prayers.”
