JLR announces partnership with NVIDIA for offline management and connected services

Jaguar Land Rover announced today that it has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with NVIDIA’s computing experts. The plans are to jointly develop services for the new generation of automated driving and with AI support for its customers.

This was announced by brands starting in 2025, all new Jaguar and Land Rover cars will be built on the NVIDIA DRIVE software platform. This will provide a wide range of active safety, automated control and parking systems, and driver assistance systems. AI features will allow vehicles to track passengers and visualize the vehicle’s environment.

Thierry Boler, CEO of JLR. “Our long-term strategic partnership with NVIDIA will open up a world of potential for our future cars as the business continues to transform into a truly global digital powerhouse.”

The system will be based on NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion, which has centralized DRIVE Orin AV computers, DRIVE AV and DRIVE IX software, as well as network systems and surround sound sensors. Jaguar Land Rover explains that the DRIVE Orin computer is similar to a car brain, and the Hyperion Drive system is the central nervous system.

JLR plans to use NVIDIA technology to further develop its vehicles. It will use its own data center solution from NVIDIA DGX to train AI models and DRIVE Sim software created in NVIDIA Omniverse. This physically accurate real-time simulation will allow automakers to create and test innovative automated driving services throughout the life of the vehicle with over-the-air updates.
