When he walked into the dealership, despite reservations, he received $ 1 in the form of scratches lottery ticket. On August 24, 2021, he decided to file a lawsuit against Montgomery Imports, claiming that the mailing was illegal, and demanded $ 75,000 in damages.

According to court documents, Montgomery Imports claims that the language in the advertisement was understandable and, in addition, that Mellor claimed his prize when he received lottery ticket.

Mellar, however, said he had filed similar lawsuits in the past and that the Consumer Protection Act was his personal hobby. He went so far as to reach out legislators to encourage them to make the defense even stronger in the state.
