A new group of Italian restaurants is making its North Carolina debut near SouthPark Mall.

Italian Social Leo is opening its third upscale restaurant on Tuesday, August 2 at 4720 Piedmont Row Drive in Downtown Piedmont, managed by real estate investment firm Lincoln Harris. Leo’s has two other locations in Ohio and plans to open two more this summer in North Carolina, in Asheville and Morrisville.

The owner Chef Art Porfounded by Brett Adams and based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, also has several other restaurants, including Burntwood Tavern in Ohio and Florida.

But Adams and regional director of operations Greg Roach are connected to Charlotte. They operated the former Brio restaurant at Leo’s new location for 16 years, Roach said. Adams launched the Burntwood Tavern restaurant concept 12 years ago, followed by Leo’s in 2019 with plans to expand into new markets, Roach said.

In Charlotte, the bar is the centerpiece of Leo’s, with seating for 30 people compared to Brio’s 10 seats.

“The bar was never high enough,” Roach said. “We definitely wanted to give people in SouthPark a really nice place to hang out and enjoy the family atmosphere of our restaurant.”

Leo’s at SouthPark has approximately 70 full-time and part-time employees.

On the menu at Leo’s

Approximately 8,000 square feet Charlotte Leo restaurant menu includes appetizers such as short rib ravioli, beef carpaccio and calamari.

The main menu includes classic pastas, entrees such as lasagna and classic eggplant and chicken parmesan, as well as wood-fired pizzas, as well as steak and seafood.

“We pride ourselves on the fact that our chefs prepare everything in house,” Roach said.

The list of Italian desserts includes tiramisu, cannoli and gelato.

Saturday and Sunday brunch offers seven menu items, including ricotta pancakes and bellini.

In addition, there are lunch combos served until 3pm, allowing you to mix and match soup or salad, such as wedding soup and half pasta, pizza or a sandwich.
