News from List of CANSPACE
The Canadian Positioning, Navigation and Synchronization Office (PNTO) is alerting interested parties that Ligado has requested access to spectrum adjacent to the GNSS service spectrum from the Canadian government. The request has long been a major concern in the United States due to the risk of RF interference to GNSS users.
The Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Spectrum Management and Telecommunications Group announced on August 19 that Notice of application by Ligado Networks. The application requests authorization to provide land mobile services in the L-band (1526-1536 MHz in MSS downlink and 1627.5-1637.5 MHz and 1646.5-1656.5 MHz in MSS uplink).
In its application, Ligado Canada is asking that ISED adopt the same operational requirements and technical regulations as the US Federal Communications Commission. The rules are set forth in FCC Order 20-48 of 2020, FCC Ligado Amendment to License Modification Applications. The operational requirements will allow Ligado Canada to provide land mobile ancillary services in certain parts of the licensed MSS spectrum.
Interested parties can submit comments until October 18 on the ISED website. Respondents are asked to email their comments in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format firstname.lastname@example.org.
