BOONE, NC (WSPA) – A missing child from Florida was found in Boone on Wednesday, the Asheville Police Department said.
The APD reported that the child is known to be in the Asheville area. They said they followed and found that the 8-year-old boy was in Boone.
Officers worked with the Boone Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service to find him along with a mother who was fleeing along with her son.
The mother was arrested and charged with fleeing from Florida for concealing the child contrary to a court order, officials said. The boy was safely returned to his father in Florida
Raquel Quinche Gutier, 35, of Boca Raton, was arrested on a refugee warrant and taken to the Wattau County Detention Center in Buna for booking, the police department said.
