CHARLOTTE, NC – Deputies are working to bring a man back into custody after he was mistakenly released from the Mecklenburg County Detention Center.
Officials say Quay Davis was mistakenly released on Monday, May 9, due to the fact that his judicial information was entered incorrectly.
According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, on April 12, resident Davis was taken to the MCDCC with Bertie’s correction.
Deputies say he immediately appeared in court and received a warrant from Paskvotank County to keep weapons to prisoners.
According to a press release, Davis received a bail of $ 75,000.
Deputies claim that Davis’ judicial information was entered incorrectly, without adding a court order.
Thus, Davis was released on May 9 around 11 am due to the fact that the charge of possession of weapons was voluntarily dropped.
The MCSO reported the bug on May 13th.
“Our MPs are working hard to bring Mr Davis back into custody. We will conduct a thorough internal review investigate this erroneous release to determine any possible negligence or policy and violation of procedure, ”Sheriff McFadden said.
