A woman who previously won a million dollar lottery jackpot won an even bigger prize when she tried another game also for the first time NC lottery officials said Friday.
Just two months after her first win, Shelby resident Kenya Sloan, 41, won $2 million on a $20 ticket, the lottery said in a statement.
“I thought, ‘There’s no way that’s happening again,'” Sloan said of her $2 million Diamond Dazzler jackpot. “But it did.”
According to the Diamond Dazzler game page on NCLottery.com, it beat odds of 1 to 3.07 million.
The three top $2 million jackpots have yet to be claimed.
Sloan bought her last winning ticket in October at the Esha Food Mart in Shelby, officials said.
“I was just standing there in shock,” Sloan said when she claimed her prize Thursday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. “I just feel blessed. That’s all I can say.’
In August, her $1 million jackpot was won in the Carolina Jackpot game.
For her latest award, Sloan could choose between a $100,000 annuity over 20 years and a $1.2 million lump sum, officials said. After taxes, she took home $855,006 after picking a lump sum, according to the lottery.
After her first win, Sloan said she wanted to buy a house. She also bought land for a new house, which she has almost finished building according to the lottery.
After winning $2 million, she said she’s going to pursue another dream of hers: opening a soul food restaurant.
