Walesboro, Pennsylvania (WENY) – Nearly 200 bikers from five local motorcycle clubs in Thiago County, Pennsylvania, came together to express support for the National Month of Child Abuse Prevention during Bring the Thunder.
Dozens of people took part in the preventive walk an hour before the action. Hundreds of people came to the “Bring Thunder” action. Organizer Robin Adams wanted to spread positive messages in society and advocate for the safety of children.
“They are coming to bring thunder and raise awareness and hopefully send a very clear message that hundreds of people really care about child abuse victims and … if we all work together and can get support locally, we can do a great job of caring for this child right here at home, ”she said.
Adams adopted her son Asa Sean Adams, who became a victim of child abuse. Seven years ago, after the adoption process, she decided she wanted to do more for the children.
“He was diagnosed with neonatal withdrawal syndrome … he had intrauterine exposure to polyurea … primarily heroin,” she said. “Shortly after the adoption was over, I started thinking about other children in my community.”
Adams is now the CEO of his company I’mPACT, a non-profit organization with programs dedicated to children affected by abuse and violence. She wanted to “bring thunder” and make a little noise to draw attention to child abuse this month.
“You can take a very defeated and sad seven-year-old and make him shine if you have a few even … not to mention a couple of hundred motorcycles behind them,” she said.
