CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – An off-duty officer who was arrested for driving under the influence has been fired, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office said.
Saturday, deputies made a traffic stop in the Jefferson area. Once the deputy realized the traffic stop was on another off-duty deputy, the South Carolina Highway Patrol was requested, according to the sheriff’s report. Off-duty officer Derrick McQueen was found to be intoxicated and was arrested and taken to jail.
The freelance officer has been dismissed.
“We hold officers to a higher standard, and this officer did not meet that standard,” Sheriff Streeter said. “Therefore, McQueen has been suspended as Chesterfield County Deputy.”
