Spartanburg County, Carolina (Fox Carolina) – The owner of two apartment buildings in the northern part of the state has been accused of exploiting vulnerable adults and abuse of trust.

The Attorney General’s Office said on Monday that Daryl Mast, the owner of houses 1 and 2 in the town of Inman in Oakridge, was arrested.

Mast is accused of stealing a social security check from an unprotected adult in one of the homes and using money for personal purchases, including the purchase of a car, the attorney general said. The check cost $ 66,110.

Officials also say Mast forced one of the homes to work, “putting the victim at significant risk of causing physical or mental harm to himself and other residents.”

Twice in 2021, the Attorney General says Mast left residents unattended and unattended. The investigation found that local law enforcement twice responded to Oakridge Community Care Home №2 because of the immediate threat of harm to residents.

According to the arrest warrant, he used camera footage as evidence for the accusation.

Masta is charged with 10 articles on neglect of a vulnerable adult and abuse of trust.
