OnePlus has suddenly delayed the launch of the OnePlus Ace Pro – basically OnePlus 10T for the Chinese market – in China today, marking the second such mysterious cancellation in as many days.
Yesterday it was Motorola (or rather the owner of Lenovo). canceled the launch event at the last minute. The foldable Razr 2022 and the flagship X30 Pro were expected to be unveiled, but the event was canceled without further explanation.
Now it’s OnePlus’ turn to come out at the last second. On the official website of the company Weibo pagethe company released the following (machine translated) message: “I am very sorry that the launch of the new product OnePlus Ace Pro and the recent activities related to it have been delayed for some reason and the next plan will be announced separately.”
While we must again mention the inherent imperfection of translation software, it’s interesting that the vaguely translated language used here – “cancelled for some reason” – is identical to that used in Motorola’s announcement yesterday.
So far, there has been no further explanation for either cancellation, but it should be noted that they coincide with a spike in political tensions between the US and China over a controversial visit to Taiwan by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The phone OnePlus was supposed to announce as the OnePlus Ace Pro is set to launch internationally as the OnePlus 10T. It remains to be seen if the global launch event for this phone will take place in New York at 3pm today.
We’ll let you know if and when we learn anything more about the OnePlus 10T launch later today.
