GREENSBORO, NC (WGHP) – If the restrictions of COVID-19 as a whole – if not completely – are relaxed, be prepared to see these mortar-board hats take off as a sign of celebration.
Tens of thousands of fresh college graduates will receive their sheepskins starting Friday and continuing over the next two weeks as universities and colleges across the Triad – and North Carolina as a whole – recognize these traditions of hats and dresses.
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the University of the Appalachians will begin the march on Friday night, and Ilona University will conclude a series of ceremonies on May 20th.
These schedules range from a series of ceremonies at some universities to large graduations at football stadiums and basketball collisions to school events in small venues.
Planning always includes a variety of moving goals, such as Mother’s Day – don’t forget it’s Sunday – and even common facilities, such as those with UNCG and NC A&T, both of which fill the Greensbore Colosseum.
This does not even take into account the weather, which can be a problem because several schools hold their ceremonies at different outdoor gathering places. Some have unforeseen circumstances. Some will stay outdoors, rain or shining.
It also serves as a clue for those who may be present or may even be in the area. The start usually eats up hotel rooms just like on a big football weekend, and you may find it difficult to walk around the area around the collisions and stadiums due to the overcrowding. The NC A&T ceremony usually fills the parking lot at the Greensboro Coliseum and then spills onto the surface of the streets for a few blocks in either direction.
One more thing: some schools still have COVID-19 camouflage restrictions. At least one says he has not decided on his policy. Check ahead before appearing with a bare face.
Thus, with these parts of public service in mind, we present a schedule for graduation ceremonies scheduled at the Triad and at other major North Carolina universities.
