Paul Robinson pointed out Chelsea manager Thomas TuchelThe decision of “Rice James” to transfer to the central defender “strange”.

During his impressive young career at Stamford Bridge and in England James has mostly acted as a right-back.

However, Chelsea – 2: 0 FA Cup victory in the semifinals over Crystal Palace on Sunday Tuchel used the Englishman as a central defender along with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Robinson, a former England goalkeeper, believes the 22-year-old’s qualities fall much better on the right flank, and urged Tuchel to return James to his natural position.

Talking to Football insider, he said: “It’s amazing because it gives you so much in the future. What it gives you in terms of its feed, dribbling and transmission range far outweighs what you get from it in the center.

The only rational thing I can come up with is that Tuhel may not think that Aspilicueta is physical enough to be the centerpiece in this game. There must have been an air threat from the Palace, and perhaps Tuhel took that into account.

“We are moving forward Chelsea it takes Rhys James to take a more advanced position on the right.

Despite the damage, James has developed an attacking side of his game at Stamford Bridge, scoring six times and making seven assists in 31 games this season.

Breaking into the main team of the “blue” under the leadership of Frank Lampard in 2019, the defender became a support in the side of Tuchel and played a major role in the triumph of the club in the Champions League last season.

Its rapid growth in West London has attracted attention from all over Europe, according to reports Real is interested in signing the defender after meeting him in the 1/4 finals of the Champions League and sees in him a possible replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Since James graduated from the Chelsea academy, it seems unlikely that the club will want to allow the player to leave. However, it is unknown whether he will be happy to continue playing without a position.
