1995 year Porsche 928 The GTS will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s this month and is unlike most others.
What immediately makes this 928 GTS special is the fact that it is one of only 26 examples to be equipped with a five-speed manual transmission for the US market in 1995. The gorgeous Midnight Blue Metallic is also a real highlight of the car and sets it apart from most others.
The listing indicates that the 928 GTS was delivered new to Porsche of Coral Gables, Florida in late 1994 with an upgraded air conditioning system and power sunroof. It also has a CR-1 radio with a six-disc remote CD changer.
The Porsche was sold by the original owner in August 2000 and purchased by an enthusiast in Charlotte, NC. It was then sold to its next owner in February 2012 and until now has been fitted with a short shifter kit from Motion Products of Neenah, WI and a set of factory red brake calipers.
RM Sotheby’s says the 928 GTS was purchased by the consignor in early 2019 and is now for sale with less than 16,650 miles (26,795 km). It comes with the original window sticker, manual and service records as it was new.
It’s not just the exterior of the car that has been in good condition, but the gray leather interior has also been well cared for over the years.
The Porsche 928 The GTS is memorable for a number of reasons, the most notable being that it has a naturally aspirated 5.4-liter V8. This engine was good for 350 horsepower when the car was new and was paired with an upgraded manual transmission. Porsche built about 2,900 examples between 1992 and 1995.
