Durham is going to double the number of free bars in the city as the Raleigh brand expands.

Buena Papa Fry Bar, the first Triangle concept focused on free fries, will open its second place in the food court of the Streets at Southpoint shopping center.

The first Buena Papa opened last year at Morgan Street Food Hall in Raleigh, but its owners James and Johan Vindan have always planned a bigger expansion.

“Our dream was to watch Buena Dad grow, and with the overwhelming reaction we got at Morgan Street Food Hall – we knew it was only a matter of time before we started expanding and adding new seats,” the couple said. in a press release. “The Streets at Southpoint is the perfect place for lunch to reach more people and share our culture and love for family and french fries.”

Plates with loaded french fries have long been a staple on the menu of some restaurants, making for crispy french fries what nachos did for tortillas.

Suddenly, however, French fries became the concept of a restaurant in Triangle, starting with Buena Papa and continuing with Mr. Fries on Main Street in Durham. In the future Emmy Squared at Brightleaf Square in Durham also has a menu with a separate section of waffle plates.

Buena Papa’s roast combinations focus on Colombian and Latin American flavors, and an introductory basket called El Colombiano, where french fries are seasoned with roasted beans, roasted pork sternum, chorizo ​​and guacamole. Other fillings for frying include meatballs, nacho cheese, pork with pork, toys and pork.

The new Buena Papa will open at Southpoint this spring and will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
