Raleigh, North Carolina – Rep. North Carolina’s Ted Bud has applied to nominate a candidate to officially join this year’s race in the U.S. Senate.
A three-term Republican congressman from Devi County filed an application with the state election commission Monday at the NC State Fairgrounds.
He announced his plans to run in April last year and received approval from former President Donald Trump in June.
Bud says his career in small business, ties to agriculture and his religious faith make him well suited for the job.
Former Governor Pat McCrory, former Rep. Mark Walker and combat veteran Marjorie Eastman are among his rivals at the May 17 Republican primaries.
Cherry Beasley is the favorite for the primaries from the Democratic Party.
