HUNTERSVILLE, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Video from video surveillance of shooting involving DaBaby rapper at Huntersville Walmart in 2018 sheds new light on what led to the death of a 19-year-old man, reports Report by Rolling Stone.
In 2018 Jayline Craig was shot at Walmart in Huntersville. Huntersville police said there was a fight before the incident.
In a video on Instagram after the incident, the rapper revealed that he was buying clothes for his daughter, but never said that there was a fight.
“Two dudes come at you and your whole family, threatening you, knock you all out, let me see what you do,” DaBaby said in the video. “When the story comes out and the footage comes out, you will show everyone how I was there with my 1-year-old daughter and my 5-year-old, my little mom, buying my child more winter clothes. The dude sees me buying baby clothes and wants to show me how tough he is. ”
Video of the incident was received by Rolling Stone raised some questions regarding DaBaby’s initial allegation that Craig and another man had provoked the incident.
The video, published by the Rolling Stones, shows the rapper striking the first blow at Henry Douglas, a friend of Craig.
Craig seems to be pulling a firearm out of his belt. As he moves towards the brawl, the video shows him trying to distract the two men from each other.
Debbie breaks out of the brawl enough to pull out a gun from her belt and shoots Craig.
The rapper, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, but the charge was dropped after a key witness failed to appear in Mecklenburg court.
Craig’s family told Queen City News it was devastated when the charges were dropped.
His parents said Jail was a fan of the rapper.
“We feel that we have not achieved justice. To have a guy look at us in court with a grin, as if he won the battle, ”Lavana Horsley’s mother said.
After the charges were dropped, the family was heartbroken.
“Angry, upset,” said Jaylin’s father, Curtis Craig.
Jaylin’s parents said they saw a security video showing their son trying to disperse the fight before he was shot.
The family says a key witness, a Walmart employee, did not appear in court to testify. Walmart security video was also not seen in court.
DaBaby did not speak to the media when he left the courtroom in 2019 after his charge was dropped.
The district attorney said then that no other charges of deadly shooting would be filed.
The 2018 incident re-emerged last year after comedian Dave Chapel mentioned Kirk in his special issue called The Closer. “I hope to negotiate the release of DaBaby.”
“One day he shot Fr. [man] at Walmart in North Carolina, ”the comedian added. “And nothing bad happened in his career. Do you see where I’m going with this? In our country, you can shoot and kill (swearing), but it is better not to hurt gay feelings.
The rapper was involved in another shooting in North Carolina earlier this month.
According to police, a man was shot dead on April 13 near Kirk’s mansion in Troutman.
Officers responded to Dababy’s property on Stillwater Road around 7:45 p.m. There, they found a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body, authorities said.
He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Josh Watson, Troutman’s police chief, told Queen City News that at the time of the shooting, only two people were nearby, Debbie and one other. Police did not identify which of the two pulled the trigger.
The 911 call, which was issued Thursday afternoon in connection with Wednesday’s shooting, indicates that the man who was shot could have illegally entered the property. Listen below:
Chief Watson said the incident took place on site, not at home.
“This is a large property, there is a much higher concrete wall on the side of the road, and on other sides it is surrounded by a fairly high fence of chains,” said Chief Watson.
Chief Watson would not say whether DaBaby knew the man who was shot.
DaBaby seemed to have responded to the April shooting two days later in an Instagram post.
“The other day I decided not to scold my life and it was great,” he said. “Buddy doesn’t deserve to go, I’m going fair. Get well and live my boy! Just don’t bring you back (swearing). “
