Samsung seeks to create its own processor for its flagship smartphones. Work on it has already begun, but reports suggest that an exclusive chipset for the Galaxy will not arrive until 2025. It looks like the company doesn’t want to rush this and would take the time to focus on quality and performance. According to a recent rumors on Twitter, Samsung will have about 1,000 employees from the semiconductor and smartphone divisions working together on the project. The joint task force will operate in July this year. The company wants to make sure the integration of software and hardware is up to par.

The new report does not report anything more about this processor for the Galaxy. However, this suggests that Samsung is looking to outperform Apple Silicon in terms of performance. These are bold ambitions, but the Korean firm has the resources and experience to accomplish this.

Samsung decided to develop exclusive Galaxy processors after the GOS dispute

Samsung is one of the few companies in the world that has the capacity to produce semiconductors. It not only designs and manufactures its own chips under the Exynos brand, but also manufactures for others. However, the company’s smartphone and semiconductor divisions have a sales relationship. So we also see processors from Qualcomm and MediaTek in Galaxy smartphones, as Samsung’s smartphone division has the freedom to choose the components that are best suited for the new product.

But recent disputes between GOS (Game Optimization Service) have forced the Korean firm to force the two business units to work together on an exclusive Galaxy processor. Samsung has been found to artificially limit the performance of some apps and games on its flagship devices for battery efficiency and temperature control. A custom processor can better handle these problems, and so the company is going that route.

However, here Samsung may have a much bigger plan. He probably wants to create a reliable ecosystem of products like Apple. Other Android manufacturers are also trying to emulate the iPhone manufacturer. Chinese firm Oppo is developing a similar custom processor. Google has already started shipping its Pixel smartphones with Samsung’s own Tensor chips. So it’s no surprise to see that a Korean firm is also involved.

Samsung is expected to introduce a 2-nm technology hub in 2025. So the first exclusive Galaxy processor could be a 2nm chipset. It will be interesting to see what the company has up its sleeve if it seeks to follow Apple and create its own ecosystem of products. We will let you know how and when more information appears.
