KANSAS CITY — Restaurant chains are introducing “non-standard” menu innovations.

Papa Johns is launching Papa Bowls with crustless baked pizzas. Options include the Italian Meat Trio with pizza and Alfredo sauce, pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, green peppers, onions and tomatoes, and three cheeses; chicken alfredo, which has alfredo and garlic Parmesan sauce with grilled chicken, spinach, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and three cheeses; and garden vegetables, with spinach, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, banana peppers, pizza sauce and garlic parmesan, plus three cheeses.

“We are thrilled to introduce Papa Bowls as a new menu category and a new way for consumers to experience our premium ingredients,” said Scott Rodriguez, senior vice president of menu strategy and product innovation. “Our signature crust continues to be a beloved favorite, but we know that sometimes customers crave something different. We want them to know that we strive to satisfy all of these desires through our menu.”

Buffalo Wild Wings has introduced a pair of thin-crust pizzas topped with boneless wings and sauces. The Buffalo Boneless Bar Pizza features ranch dressing, blue cheese crumbles, mozzarella cheese, medium boneless wings in Buffalo sauce, pickled hot peppers and chopped green onions. The Honey BBQ Boneless Bar Pizza features mozzarella and cheddar jack cheeses, boneless wings in honey BBQ sauce, bacon crumbles, pickled hot peppers and chopped green onions.

Baskin-Robbins is offering a new frozen coffee drink with Oreo cookies. Oreo ‘n Cold Brew Blast blends cold brew coffee and Oreo ‘n Cold Brew ice cream, topped with whipped cream and Oreo cookie pieces. In addition, the ice cream chain chooses a new flavor of the month, inspired by strawberry shortcake with frosting. Toaster dough-flavored ice cream is swirled with strawberry jam, iridescent dollops of frosting, and crumbly toaster dough pieces.

“Oreo ‘n Cold Brew Blast allows us to offer a cold brew option to guests looking for innovative ways to enjoy their everyday beverage,” said Jeanne Bolger, director of research and development for Baskin-Robbins. “And with our new flavor of the month, Frosted Strawberry Toaster Treat, our culinary team continues to showcase unique ice cream creations that tap into nostalgia to create our guests’ next favorite flavor.”
