Smart tent on a roof from a firm cover at the same time acts as a wind cabin with a fine kind

Folding solid tents on the roof, such as iCamper Skycamp closed the traditional gap between aerodynamic, fast-sloping awnings with a hardtop and roomy, family awnings with a soft RTT hull. These hybrids are installed almost as quickly and easily as traditional double hard shells, but hold room for three to four people – the best of both worlds. German startup Roof Space believes that it is still necessary to work on fine-tuning and improving the folding hard case. His debut tent One has a clean, 60-second layout mode, seats three people and even opens onto an airy balcony to enjoy the sun and scenery.

With iKamper Skycamp and others, we can’t exactly lag behind Roof Space’s description of the “first folding hardcover tent,” but its tent relies on a folding mechanism different from other hardcover folders we’ve seen. Instead of stacking the hinged floor in a solid case under a hinged lid, Roof Space made the lid itself a floor extension. The hard cover of the case tilts 180 degrees to become part of the tent floor, which protrudes beyond the car. It’s just like deploying a sandwich in RTT with soft edges, albeit without the annoying soft lightning raincoat that makes the soft shell more complicated and time consuming to set up and break.

While the Roof Space One and iKamper Skycamp setup processes are slightly different, both companies advertise a time of 60 seconds, so installing Roof Space One isn’t necessarily faster or easier, it’s just different. However, the unique design of Roof Space brings some benefits. Because it doesn’t turn its hard cover into a dark, windowless, sloping-like wall, Roof Space can decorate One’s interior by having windows on all four sides and a mirror on top. This can be a disadvantage on a bright morning in a campsite where there is not enough shade, but it will be a good advantage if you fall asleep under the stars at night, enjoy the views in the afternoon and turn on cross-ventilation in warm weather.

Perhaps the most intriguing advantage of Roof Space design is what it calls “panorama mode”. The zipper, which limits the edge of the front stick of the hoop, allows users to quickly remove the front of the fabric from the tent, creating an open deck with an awning. This essentially turns the tent into a windy rooftop and vantage point, great for spending time during the day without stuffy. Other RTTs offer large front doors that vacationers can keep fully open, but Roof Space has taken the concept a step further.

Roof Space believes that the floor of the tent measuring 53 x 81 inches (135 x 205 cm) is large enough to accommodate up to three people. At its peak the tent is just over 51 inches (130 cm). The hull uses aluminum honeycombs with top and bottom panels that are fastened together with rails from an aluminum frame 6063, resulting in a total tent weight of 148 pounds (67 kg). It sits at an impressively compact height of 8.3 inches (21 cm) in a closed position and is ready for a trip to camp – not the smoothest we know of (less than 5 inches!) But certainly on the smooth side of the market.

As we’ve talked about everywhere, the recently updated iKamper Skycamp 3.0 has a height of 13.5 inches (34.3 cm) indoors and weighs 165 pounds (75 kg). It offers a large sleeping area for four people (two adults / two children) measuring 83 x 77 inches (211 x 196 cm).

Roof space

The roof space is collapsing Company Indiegogo now, and although the cheapest early billboards have already sold out, the One is still advertised at the mortgage level starting at 2,800 euros (approximately $ 2,950), which is 20 percent of the planned 3,500 euros ($ 3,675). Although the company has raised more than $ 78,000, it will not reach its $ 105,000 goal unless it makes a few more promises by the end of its campaign in six days. He hopes to start deliveries this summer (Northern Hemisphere).
